I stuck a SM57 in front of my ad30vt, messed around with the postitioning for about 2 hours and came out with this 20mins later.

The speaker really sounds awful and eventually i'll get a summer job to buy a new Stiletto and an Avatar 2x12

the 50 watt version has a celestion 70/80, which is quite useable compared to the other stock speakers

i still love that us higain model, i remembered getting sweet vai tones out of it =D

The newer 50s have a "Vox special design" (i.e. cheap ) speaker. No more 70/80

I've heard some people put a celestion 10" speaker in the 30 and the amp really improved..but I don't know from personal experience. Regardless, I think the general tone is good, maybe just try micing further away/off axis to reduce some of the top end?

What guitar did you use? Nice playing too, BTW

thanks jeff, i used the guitar in my sig with those pickups in it.

And yea you guess it, the mic was about barely touching the grille of the amp, i'll get some more clips of it farther away sometime.
