pac112 the biggest problam I have is that some dweebie in a cheap suit can be conned by some smart talker and THEN put in a tariff but CAN'T make a product to protect!!!! Carbon fibre has a massive duty because some IDIOT said he could make it, problem is that this LOSER couldn't do number 2's without help.
This B@stard has cost me at least $2M in turn over as I build/ would like to build high end 'sporting vehicles'. And all the F@##### guitars that I NEED!

Re: Why are SD pups so much more expensive over here?

thats the problem with market controls - sometimes the cheapest is just the best! fine, have protectionism as a way of safeguarding jobs, but when you flat out *can't* produce a competitor, you've defeated the object >.<

Re: Why are SD pups so much more expensive over here?

here in Africa : There's a guitar shop that does duncans at 900 Rands, (for a JB for instance.) Just a bog standard version. That's 150 US$ And if you buy it you keep it, not 21 day exchange system. If you want a Pup that is "unusual" then the wait is about 4 months.

Direct ordering and shipping is a very scary option as our postal system here is riddled with theft and non-arrivals. Plus random import changes. Boooo-Hooo....

Re: Why are SD pups so much more expensive over here?

1 thing that is true here in the US that I don't think is true many other places, esp. Europe: People here HARDLY EVER pay MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price) for ANYTHING. Markets, stores, businesses, everything, attempts to discount in one way or another by added volume. From Wal-mart to Musicians Friend. I have heard that this happens very seldom in Europe.

And taxes are a lot less, also.
