Why do some guitars have 2 strap buttons on the back edge?

Re: Why do some guitars have 2 strap buttons on the back edge?

So you can lean them up against an amp, wall, or anything really and have it balance better.

so you can hang your strap in two different spots, one for neck high play and one for neck straight playing. its a balance thing

I think so too. So you can lean the guitar against your amp and it'll be more stable resting on two end pins rather than unstable resting one just one.

AFAIK Tom Anderson was the first to do this on a large scale, and he did it for more stability when improperly stored (I.E. won`t fall over as fast when leaned against an amp or wall) than anything else

Hagstrom guitars in Sweden originally did this back in the 1970's...
