Why do some people choose to have no tone control on their guitar??

Is there really any positive sides with this? I thought that everybody wanted to have as much tone control as possible to better control their sound...

Some guys don't want any loading of the pot's resistance and the tone cap...I always use No Load Tone pots..With the tone control on 10,the resistance and tone cap are out of the circuit..."No Load" for the pickups to see...

Richard Thompson is a very fine guitarist who uses only volume pots on his oft-played 3 pickup Ferringtoncaster.

the neck pickup is a P-90, the mid is a strat pickup, and the bridge is a broadcaster pickup.

each pickup is a little different in character, and he gets his tone by the blend of the volumes.

Because I never use it anyways. It's always on 10. The only real reason I'm using one now, is because it splits my pickups.

i hardly ever use my tone control, max all the way. Maybe i should give them a play. Just like DeadSkin i only use the push/pull to split the pups. Maybe i should change it for a mini-switch for the sake of simplicity.

i like to fool around with the tone nob, gives me more values, so to speak

and also, to curly, man i love richard thompson, you had to post that! lol ;)

I use mine all the time...you can do some really cool wah effects with it. Its already on the guitar, might as well use it.

I like my tone knobs, makes my bridge pup sound closer to a custom. I like to get that woman tone in the neck for soloing too.

There was a website somewhere that compared pups, namely the JB and the Custom, connected to a tone pot and disconnected from the tone pot. I couldn't remember where it was, but maybe someone will come through. From what I remember, disconnecting the tone pot would give you more highs.
