why do vintage blackfaces cost nothing?

well, next to nothing. i was just looking on ebay and the prices are miniscule i thought for this great sounding amp. i mean, you can get the head for less that $500 and a combo for less than $1000

also, how much do the red nob ones go for? if not much, i might be saving now....

It's the BF combo amps w/ reverb that mostly command the dolla-dolla bills

Yeah, because the reverb is sort of considered an integral part of how they sound...when folks think "blackface tone," there's usually 'verb involved.

The non-reverb amps have more headroom, too.

IIRC, that's from the Rivera era @ Fender. Intresting gain channels, I've heard...

Lots of people don't like the red knob ones. I have a red knob champ 12 that is a good little practice amp.

The red knobs are from the late 80's early 90's . Not conciceder by
most as fender's finist achivement in amp manufacturing. But I had
a super 60 that wasn't half bad, And I have a Champ 12 that I love !!
IMHO for a PCB amp there not all bad.

yeah, fender made the only "red knobbed twins" that u'll ever reject.

Those suckas weighed 40 gajjilion lbs. Need a forklift to go giggin' w/em.

Part of the used 40 year old fender amp thing is the transformers are often replacement versions, sometimes they're crappy. Sometimes not. Something to watch out for though.

I actually don't have a 'red knob'. Mine is a late 90's blackface evil twin. It has 2.5 channels (2 independent and one dependent). two of the three are really good (clean and blues), but the gain channel is a sh1tsandwich.

Lots of vintage Fenders can go for cheap...picked up my Bassman for $300.

I kind of want a Red Knob "Evil" Twin 'cuz Kurt Cobain used one...hahaha, no other reason, I'm just a loser.

i was interested in the red nob one because i found out that chris spedding used them, and he gets killer tone. (i have to find out the exact model, but im almost sure it was the red nob...)
