Why doesn't Amazon carry any linear taper push-pulls?

Re: Why doesn't Amazon carry any linear taper push-pulls?

They exist in plenty of places. Just not " one size fits all " Amazone.

Re: Why doesn't Amazon carry any linear taper push-pulls?

How bad would using audio tapers for tone controls be with a Distortion and a Demon?

Re: Why doesn't Amazon carry any linear taper push-pulls?

I tend to use audio taper for tone controls in the first place. Linear tone controls have too much of a drop off between 0 and 2 with almost no change for the rest of the pot's rotation.

By 0–2 do you actually mean 0–2 (i.e. at the bottom end of the range), or did you mean 10–8 (i.e. at the top end of the range)?

Re: Why doesn't Amazon carry any linear taper push-pulls?

0-2 at the bottom of the range.

Re: Why doesn't Amazon carry any linear taper push-pulls?

you pretentious troll

you baited the question

I answered with a frikking link

and you respond with that nonsense

Re: Why doesn't Amazon carry any linear taper push-pulls?

Enough money can buy anything... I ain't dropping $43 on weird noname pots that'll show up 10 days later, when Bourns with 2-day shipping cost HALF that

How trolly of me

PS now if I wanted to nitpick, I'd be all "That's Arkansas not Amazon"

Re: Why doesn't Amazon carry any linear taper push-pulls?

0-2 at the bottom of the range.

Now I'm really curious how you use your tone controls. Do you actually spend much time precisely dialing in tones between 0 and 2 on an audio taper tone control?

I prefer linear, because it makes the upper range of the tone pot, i.e. the part that I really want to use, extremely insensitive to minor changes. That makes it easier for me to fine tune within the range that I use most. With audio taper pots, the treble drop-off happens way too quickly for me, and I find it hard to precisely dial in minor treble reduction. The bottom end of either linear or audio, I don't live in very often. If I'm down there, it's usually on 0, for a cocked wah sound.

Funny, I find that a linear taper pot works almost like a switch, whereas an audio taper pot has a smoother taper all the way through. You appear to have found the opposite to be true.
