Wilde (Bill & Becky) L-298 / L-200 Demo

Here is a quick demo I did of Wilde Pickups' L-298S and L-200S pickups.

They are all noiseless singles (stacks).

The 298 is the bridge pickup, and it's fat / hot.

The 200s are in the neck and middle, and they are traditionally voiced.

These are generously on loan from grumptruck.

I am in love with them, my favorite Strat singles ever - Neck is juicy and full with no barky, ceramicky tone. Bridge is just plain giving it up - its loud and gives pretty much no coloration - it sounds like the guitar unplugged, just louder.

Middle I have set low since I am a Tele / LP convert and I am used to having a clear fairway there in my picking path now. It sounds good on its own but also mixes well with the neck. I have my middle pickup and neck pickup reversed in my wiring so I can get neck + bridge in the #4 position, so I don't know how the middle and bridge sound together since that's not one of me options.

Anyways, great pickups, way better than the SSL-1s I had in there or the Fender stockers that I liked better than the SSL-1s and gigged for years.

They sound like I want my Strat to sound.

You can too achieve the same sound for 46.00 dollars x 3 plus shipping from Wilde USA.

Why don't you just copy and paste your PM to me in the thread six?

From day 1

They're all in and I really like them - The neck pickup is the fattest, surprisingly, and It doesn't necessarily sound perfectly "Stratty," which is cool because I have never been able to do much with the classic Strat sound.

The bridge pickup is the only non-humbucker (e.g. Little 59, JB Jr.) bridge pickup that I've ever liked. It doesn't have the sharp bite of a traditional Strat bridge, but it's not fat like a P90 or humbucker. It's clear and mellow. I plan to adjust it to be closer to the strings so it will be a little louder - I didn't have time to adjust them all and I ended up with unintentional pickup heights.

I am excited to dial in the bridge pickup - I think that it's sound will be very pleasing to me. I played Thin Lizzy's "The Boys Are Back In Town" on it with the tone rolled back a bit and it sounded really really close to that mini humbucker sound.

I haven't explored the notch positions or the middle yet - I wrapped up at midnight and had to go to bed after I did a few minutes on the Valvetronix with the neck and bridge.

All in all, I think it's a step in the right direction for this Strat.

Thanks again, will report back what I think of the notch and middle positions tomorrow (today's my wedding anniversary, probably not guitaring tonight).

Yeah, no joke.

I actually play my Strat now - you saved that guitar.

I was skeptical of course, since Bill Lawrence is not known fir his single coils, but man oh man, I was pleasantly surprised.
