The string spacing is the same though right? Same mounting hole distance? Wasn't the sustain block the only thing changed on the trem? They should be compatible.the guy who invented fire said:Thats not completely correct...which MIM Strat do you have? The MIM Standards (pre 2006) and the MIM Standard (2006) and the MIM Classic all have different tremolo's.
*waves hand frantically* Mike, Highway 1's come stock with MIM hardware. The spacing should be the same, right?XSSIVE said:a regular MIM strat trem will NOT fit that body. the regular MIM strat trems are 2 1/16" string/mounting hole spacing. the USA stuff is either 2 3/16" or 2 7/32" depending on the model. also the MIM deluxe (like the powerhouse strats) have 2 3/16" with a larger block so those should fit it. however i don't know about the new 2006 MIM stuff since i've never owned one... i've only had the pre-2006 stuff.

It could be the MIM deluxe hardware. Not sure 100% on that though. To be honest, I didn't know there was different hardware for the MIM deluxe until you mentioned it. I thought it was all the same across the MIM line.XSSIVE said:i thought they had MIM deluxe hardware with the larger block and wider spacing...same as the powerhouse strat.
they put the same crap thin block trem in those as the standard MIM stuff??? that's news to me.
i never owned one.

Gotcha, thanks for clearing this up. This is good info. So I was partially correct.XSSIVE said:no no no...MIM deluxe stuff is MUCH better. granted the block is not as good as the US stuff but it's bigger and the same spacing specs. i have two trems sitting in a box, one a fender vintage reissue and one from my powerhouse strat and i get them mixed up until i remeber the MIM deluxe has a lighter color paint on the block and is a bit lighter in feel.
also if you check the callaham site you will see what blocks fit what guitars...

these all use the same 2 7/32 spaced trems..
Fender Am Reissue Strat or
Fender Highway 1 Strat or
Custom Shop Relic or
WD exact vintage or
Stewart MacDonald vintage or
Jimmy Vaugh Strat or
Mexican Deluxe or
Made in Mexico Classic (50's,60's,70's) 2 7/32 string spacing
the standard MIM are the narrow spaced 2 1/16" narrow spaced thin block junk

ErikH said:I've got a killer Gotoh vintage style trem on my Frankenstrat. It's got a nice big sustain block. Some have mentioned that I should put a Floyd on it. No way. Don't want to risk ruining the tone I get from it.
I hope you're being sarcastic.More-Gear-Than-Skill said:Basically, you have a MIM strat, that you want to bless with HWY-1 wood? Heck, that's so much effort, whay not just build a whole new guitar around your new wood? And keep the MIM intact. that would be nice. Crickey, who'd sell off their HWY-1 body only? Did he bless his HYW-1 strat with a MIA-standard body?
Ha- eventually some guys going to post that he has this MIM body that he wants to put in his Squire, ... and then a few weeks after there gonna be this guy with an SX.....
