Will pickups produce a sund when wired wrong?

I just want to know if pups will make the same sound regardless of how they're wired. I just got my HB108 Duncan Detonator bridge pup and I kind of guessed at the install but it works I think. I was just wondering if it could make the same sound it does when installed correctly when it's installed improperly?

you can wire it wrong and get a sound from it, it might not be the right sound. if you like the way it sounds then i wouldnt worry about it too much.

for typical series wiring the red/white wires should be soldered and insulated, black wire to the switch or volume control, and green and bare wire to ground.

I did everything correct except the green and bare. I'm not sure where to solder it. But I do like the sound. So I wasn't too worried. I soldered and taped the red and white to each other. In the stock pups there was only white and bare so It was kinda a guess for me to get it right.
