....work well as a passive pickup? I have a 2003 OLP MM3 Stingray 5 copy that I have done a couple of reincarnations of the electronics on and I've got it currently setup where the single factory pickup is split using a switchcraft Gibson-Style 3 way switch and two separate tone pots for each half of the pickup. This gives some usable variations for my style of playing. I've never really liked the sound of active pickups-grew up on P and J's. Since wiring the bass this way, it also shows some of the deficiancies of the cheap pickup that was installed in the guitar. Bartollini sells a Classic Bass series designed specifically as a passive pickup on this guitar. I'm wondering can the Basslines MM5 be used in the same manner with good results? (as a passive pickup) or is it a dedicated application to the active preamp offered by SD?
PS, I use SD/Bassline pickups almost exclusively on every guitar/bass in my stable. Love 'em.
