Hi guys.. I've got my Ibanez RG 550 with maple neck that I love.. or like a lot I should say.. and as soon as I get the money it's probably going to be my second guitar as I plan on getting something really nice and it will be probably a Gibson or something like that.. Anyway, I want the Ibanez to be my shred guitar, and my metal type guitar.. Well, I bought a used Duncan from the board here, and it is the Distortion F spaced trembucker.. I've used this pickup a bunch in a bunch of differnet guitars, and it always sounded ok, but in this guitar it's just too bright.. It's not the pickup, but the guitar.. This guitar with this heavy edge trem which I love, or normally I'd block it.. is very very very very bright.. So, to make up for it, Dimarzio has figured out what Ibanez guitars should be using as it seems Dimarzio and Ibanez are about married at the hip.. Anyway, I love for instance the sounds / tone's of some of Racer X stuff, and Paul Gilbert, so I bought a used Tone Zone.. I've had one before, and it was in a Cheaper Ibanez with the same body, but neck had rosewood board, but that was only difference.. and it just rocked.. and it seemed very loud and even more outuput than the DD to me.. So I thought I'd put the Dimarzio in the bridge and since the Duncan Distortion is so bright and still has some output, stick it in the neck of the same guitar? Should that work? I am wondering if the Dimarzio is higher in output? I mean is the Tone Zone higher in output? Too my ears it seemed to be, but I've not had them side by side to compare.. I realize the that the Duncan is a bridge pickup, and it's f spaced, but shoudn't it work anyway since it's so bright in the bridge position now, I thought it would sound cool in the neck and still have enough output, but I don't want it if it's going to have too much.. Just a thought..
Thanks in advance..
Tim
