Windings

I have a single coil pickup from years ago. Put it in the guitar and it naturally sounds thin and weak. Just for my own amusement I want to add windings to it. Can you just start winding extra wire around the windings already there or do you need to have a soldered connection to the old windings?

No, you would need to connect the new wire to the end of the existing coil wire.

Depending on the existing coil this can fall anywhere from simple to impossible.
