wire gauge of single coils

I think most vintage strat singles are wound with 42 AWG, tele bridges mostly with 42 (though the higher DCR on some makes me think they might be 43 gauge, like the Broadcaster pup), and the tele neck with 43 AWG. Is that all correct?

What wire gauges are used in Seymour's single coils? If I were guessing, I'd guess the 10-15K range is 43 and the 15K+ range is 44, although those are based on the general outlines of wire gauges for humbuckers found in the forums here. There's not much info on the singles.

Re: wire gauge of single coils

Yes you are probably right to a certain extent , dimensions of the coil is a factor ,winders usually jump the the smaller gauge wire when there is not enough room for the desired number of turns .but when it comes to higher output pups like humbuckers you can easily use 43 gauge or 44 gauge wire to get 16k & up to get the output you are looking for
