Wire in new channel switch pedal for amp head?

Dirtyking

I have an old Randall tube head that totally kicks it man, but the channel switch is on the way out. The plug is a 6 prong piece that plugs into the amp. The switch pedal itself has 2 buttons, one to switch from clean to dirty channels, the other turns on both channels(weird function I never use). I had a local tech look at it to replace it with a modern type pedal , but he said it wasn't possible. Is this true? Are there any other options I may not know of?

I'm sure it can be done, I wired a Peavey footswitch to work with a 3 channel Kasha preamp once. Had to change the connectors on the footswitch and preamp, but it worked fine. I can't tell you how to do it without having the amp in front of me though.
