wireless?

Is there any difference in tone/tone loss between the Shure UT14 (the guitarist) and the more expensive ULXS unit?

UT14

ULXS

I am still looking for a new wireless unit, and I am wondering if the main difference between the units is a fixed frequency, or if it is overall sound quality.

Thanks for any input

I use the Shure UHF "Guitarist" wireless and love it....Sounds like I'm still using my George L cables...Maybe a call or e mail to Shure might be the way to go on your questions?

Re: wireless?

I have the ULXS but I've never compared it to the UT14 for tone. I have my ULXS rack mounted and I couldn't be happier with it. Fixed freq units are ok until you run into interference and then you're stuck. I've used the ULXS in many environments that were definately not RF friendly and after two years or so the ULXS hasn't dropped a note or picked up any unwanted signals.

I'm positive the UT14 is a nice unit but the ULXS is bad to the bone.

Re: wireless?

John-

I did end up getting the UT14. Just curious, what settings do you use to get your tone as close to normal?

I found I got pretty close with:

0 attenuation on transmitter
volume on receiver set to the last dot on the right
squelch set right in the middle
