wiring advice please? :)

Hi guys,

I hope all are well!

I ran into an installation issue. Working on a friends Epiphone LP. Trying to install two 4 conductor Duncans into a Les Paul. I want to use the volume pots as the split/push-pull pots, however, Duncan only shows this diagram on their site with using the tone pots as the push-pull pots.

Can I just follow this same diagram, except for using the push-pull pots as the volume pots where I would connect the white and red wires for coil splitting?

Thanks again!

Honestly, I still can't get the solder on the Epiphone pots to melt. I opened up my stock Fender and my Les Paul, and the solder melts almost immediately. In the Epiphone, I can't the solder to even budge a little! Weird.

Yes, just imagine the pots being in whatever spot you want the and wire it that way.

Some solder can be a chore. Make sure your iron tip is clean and tinned properly.

Nice pots come with flux already impregnated into the surface... just replace the pots too. The whole thing of having the tone pots as the push pull is a good one... consider it.

In forty-something years of doing electronics, I've never seen, or even heard of that, before. And it doesn't make sense. Pot manufacturers recommend against that practice. (Of soldering to the back of pots.) And flux is just pine tar. Its a thicker version of Pine-Sol, used for cleaning purposes only.

Not saying you're wrong, but its highly unusual. Who makes these "good" pots. It certainly isn't CTS or Bournes. ;)
