Wiring check - Strat, 2 singles, V-T-T, 3-way

Hi guys,

First, let me preface this by saying that I don't really know what I'm doing. I'm a bit ignorant regarding these circuits.
But I know how to use a soldering iron though. :)

Both my Strats have 2 singles (neck & bridge) as I don't use the middle position. So I only need a 3-way switch, a master volume control and 2 separate tone controls for each pickup.
A friend helped me with this and here's how I have wired the thing up so far:

Right now it seems to work fine.
Neck single has 250k (master) volume and 250k (independent) tone control.
Bridge singlecoil also has a 250k (master) volume and 250k (independent) tone control.
The caps are for each tone pot (Les Paul style) with .022 ufd value.

2 questions:
1.)It works, but Duncan charts seem to be very different. Did I do something suboptimal? Can I still optimize the above or is it fine the way I have done this?

2.)How could I just disconnect the neck tone control but keep the bridge tone control in the circuit?

Thanks for your help,
Chris

Sorry, looking at the diagram hurts my face... Basically, I think you have it correct. It's pretty much a stock tele diagram with the tone controls linked to their individual pickups.

Yeah, really sorry for that.
I just used paint and doing it with a mouse was kinda tough to do it... so it kinda looks like a kid's painting.

The way you have it wired will work, but it's messy for all sorts of reasons.

You have the track end terminal of the tone controls connected to earth via the pot casing and the capacitors as part of the signal path from the switch terminals. this is a recipe for noise and the bare wires from the capacitor can move and short out signal points to earth.

A better way is to place the capacitor between the track terminal and pot casing, keeping the bare wires as short as possible. Then use a piece of lap-screened and insulated wire to go from centre tag to the switch terminal. If you are using lap-screened wire the screen wire only needs to be connected at the pot as long as you have an earth wire going from the switch casing to the earth circuit. you can then snip the earth wire at the other end close to the signal wire and pull the pvc insulation sheath over it. Makes it much easier to handle.
