Wiring diagram help...

I think I know what each of the 5 positions on this diagram would give me, but I'd like to make sure it's what I want before trying to do it.

Here's what I think...

1 = bridge humbucker
2 = bridge/neck humbucker
3 = Neck humbucker
4 = Bridge split/neck humbucker?
5 = Neck split?

Re: Wiring diagram help...

4: bridge pickup screw coil/neck pickup stud coil
5: bridge pickup screw coil

Re: Wiring diagram help...

Here's what I'd prefer if it's possible with a normal 5-way switch. I don't know that this is possible with a normal 5-way switch tho.

1 = bridge humbucker
2 = both split
3 = both humbuckers
4 = neck split
5 = neck humbucker

Re: Wiring diagram help...

If you change the order you can do that with a standard switch.

You can do it in that order with a 5-way super switch, though.

Re: Wiring diagram help...

If you switch locations of the black wires of the neck and bridge pickups and switch the locations of the red/white wire pairs of the neck and bridge pickups you'll get:

1: neck series
2: neck series/bridge series
3: bridge series
4: neck screw coil/bridge stud coil
5: neck screw coil

I would also argue that it is better to use the neck screw coil and bridge stud coil than it is to use the neck stud coil and bridge screw coil.

I agree using the neck screw coil and the bridge stud coil makes more sense. So I would get this by switching all four wires like you described?

Re: Wiring diagram help...

Yes.

Give it a try. If you have any trouble, post some pictures.

Re: Wiring diagram help...

It depends on who you ask.

With standard Strat wiring I consider the position 1 to be the bridge pickup and the position 5 to be the neck pickup.
