Wiring Diagram Needed 1 P-Rail & Two Fender Single Coils HSS

Hello There!!
I just joined this forum but not new to wiring or pickup swaps..
I'm 48 & have been playing guitar & bass for 36 years..

What I have is a Jackson Dinky/DK2 Pile of Skulls body I picked up recently that now has a 1992 Rhoads EX/RR4 Professional Quartersawn Neck attached..
All the electrical parts I have are new as the body was completely gutted =

2x 500k Push/Pull Pots
Fender 5 Way Switch
Fender Output Jack
.047mf Orange Drop Cap
2x Fender Robert Cray Single Coils
Seymour Duncan Bridge P-Rail

I have enough wiring in colors to use Red Green White Black Yellow where needed
The middle Fender pickup appears to be out of phase, Both Neck & Middle are like 2mm shorter than normal Strat pickups as the OE cream pickup covers on them are shorter than the normal Strat Covers, So I aquired a pair of Fender Noiseless black covers & shimmed them up with rubber tubing..They both have Black & White/Yellow Cloth Wrapped wires..
From other diagrams I've seen on this on the SD website I'm sure I can figure out the New original Fender 5 way Strat switch & have also seen a few diagrams that show the Push/Pulls being used to work the P-Rail..
I also need to run grounds from under each shielded pickup cavity, tremolo block, & control cavity etc.

I just recently moved & haven't yet been able to my hands on my Fluke Meter but found my soldering iron, solder, flux etc..

A nice diagram is what I'm after to get all the sounds out of the P-Rail & the Single Coils with the 5 way switch + two Push/Pull pots

Can't wait to get this project together.. I'll post a few pics when I get it all together..

First off, welcome to the Forum!

Secondly, unless that neck is 24 frets, you're never going to get it intonated. The DK2 body is made for a 24 fret neck. AFAIK, all Rhoads bolt-ons were 22 fret. I could be wrong, though. Jackson did weird things with their neck pockets and neck heels.

Regarding the ground wires in the cavities, whoever stripped it went overboard. Sink some pickguard screws into the wood through a small sliver of tin foil or a metal tab (if you have anything that small) and attach a ground wire to it, then feed that through to the control cavity. One in each pickup cavity is enough, as that's how it came.

Connect those to the back of the volume pot, then jump the back of the volume pot to the back of the tone pot, then to the ground lug of the jack. That's Jackson factory default.

As for the P-Rail, you can save yourself a lot of headache by mounting it in a TripleShot ring. Those two were made for each other. You get all the P-Rail options without having to use 2 or more push pulls, or mini toggles.

If the middle single is out of phase with the neck, then I'm assuming it's RWRP, and should sound that way. Try reversing the wires of either pickup (the middle is generally preferable, unless it matches up nicely with the bridge).

Here's a handy link to Duncan's wiring diagrams. P-Rail diagrams are under Humbuckers, while anything with more than 2 pickups is under Strat-style. There's a ton of diagrams missing, though (like P-Rail with 2 singles, since the P-Rail wiring is a wee bit different than standard 4-conductor hums).

Thanks Dr.
I thought I "Might" run into intonation problems with this neck swap?? I have seen DK2/Dinkys with 22 fret necks a couple of times? I have also seen a 24 fret Rhoads called the RR24
I picked this 1992 Black Rhoads EX up @ a Pawn for $56.60 + tax = $60 OTD with case, I couldn't leave without it for that price as it's loaded & really just needed a setup & trem arm.. I also bought an Ibanez SR300 Bass for $100 OTD from them as well.. I once bought a Gibson Les Paul Custom Lite Black Beauty w/case from there for $400 = Great Deals.

As far as the pickup wiring, I have two NEW Push/Pull pots, NEW 5 way switch etc. & also thought about the "Triple Shot" pickup rings but none are/were available locally. That's sad too because Music-Go-Round, Guitar Center, Wilis Music & several other great local music stores really don't have anything but a few pickups to chose from.
I've got a bag of jumper leads & was planning on trying to hook it all up first in the body & see what happens.. If I likey then I'll solder it all up..
With a search engine I came up with several wiring diagrams, This is the two I've been looking at the most.. Gonna Print them out now..

If the neck gives me trouble I'll put the Rhoads back together & sell it to fund another 24 fret DK2, In fact I have my eye on one with the flamed fretboard but there just asking TOO MUCH currently.. HaHa!! This would also leave another neckless body in the pile..

I forgot that I "AM NOT" going to use the On/On Mini switch from the second diagram as I don't have one currently & don't wanna drill a hole in the Pile of Skulls body as it's a masterpiece IMO.
Rock On!!

Re: Wiring Diagram Needed 1 P-Rail & Two Fender Single Coils HSS

Well I've asked SD for a diagram to help me out with no success, It's been since the weekend anyway..
It almost makes me feel that I should have went with another pickup other than this P-Rail setup in this superstrat..
I'm still willing to try a serious wiring diagram with two push/pulls = One volume, One tone & a 5 way switch, One P-Rail & two single coils..
Could I be the only one out here who has ever put a P-Rail Humbucker in one of these??

I should have went with either a Bill Lawrence XL500 or a Dimebucker..
Still haven't strung this DK2 up YET to see about the intonation but either way that really wouldn't matter on the wiring of the pickups, worst case I will put the Jackson Rhoads EX back together & search for a DK2 24 fret Jackson neck for the Pile of Skulls project..
I have in the meantime strung my Charvel 2B Bass which I gave to my oldest son, Put a set of flatwounds on my Ibanez SR300, and now have my sons PRS CE22 ready for new strings.. Also strung up an old Hondo Nylon string..

Someone please help a brotha out with a diagram..
Thanks HK

Re: Wiring Diagram Needed 1 P-Rail & Two Fender Single Coils HSS

You can use any mini-switch shown in any diagram as if it was a pull/push.
In fact, the pull push pot has two components bind together, a regular pot, and a regular DPDT on/on switch.
The only trick is that instead of a lever, the pull/push uses the shaft of the pot to actuate the switch.
So, just "bind" that mini-switch on the diagram under its respective pot, and you get the pull/push configuration for your project.
