Wiring diagrams

On this "tone control for bridge" wiring diagram, can I use a 4 conductor humbucker instead? If so, would the green/bare go to ground and the red taped off, and everything else be the same?
Or is there a better way to get Bridge/neck?

Re: Wiring diagrams

That's not a tone for bridge diagram. Typo perhaps?

But yes, for a "bridge on" with a 4 conductor humbucker the green and bare go to ground, red and white get soldered in taped off, and black goes to the push/pull.

Yes typo, it's a "Switch For Bridge" diagram

Thanks for the help.

Re: Wiring diagrams

I'd like to be able to AT LEAST get:

1) Split bridge alone
2) Split bridge & neck

Will the diagrams above work?

Or is there a diagram available to get this mod?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Wiring diagrams

The two can be combined, but it won't give you what you're looking for. All the auto-split does is split the bridge in position #4 for a more accurate notch tone from the bridge and middle.

What you can do is use the other pole of the push/pull to split the bridge pickup. With the push/pull down it would act like any other HSS strat with an autosplit in position 4. Pull up and half of the bridge would turn on with whatever was selected on the 5-way. In other words...

P/P "down"
1. Neck
2. Neck + Middle
3. Middle
4. Middle + Bridge (split)
5. Bridge (full)

P/P "up"
1. Neck + Bridge (split)
2. Neck + Middle + Bridge (split)
3. Middle + Bridge (split)
4. Middle + Bridge (split)
5. Bridge (split)

Is that more in line with what you're looking for?

Ok, so I wire it up using the Auto-split diagram which will give me everything you said when the p/p is down.

So my question is, how do I wire it up to the other pole to split the bridge?

Re: Wiring diagrams

Wire the switch like the auto split diagram, with two exceptions:

1) Take the black wire from the humbucker to the common lug of one pole, as shown in the "bridge-on" diagram, and wire the push/pull to the switch and volume pot as illustrated in the "bridge-on" diagram.

2) At the same lug where the red and white attach to the switch, attach a third wire. Connect the other end of this wire to the common lug on the open pole (this is the "center left" lug if you're following the diagram). On the "bottom left" (left side, lug closest to the volume pot) solder a wire and attach the other end to ground.

Let me know if that doesn't make sense.

This diagram is not the best, but is this the correct way?

Re: Wiring diagrams

You got it. ;)

Wow, I can't believe it!

Perfect timing....I just got home from work so I'm diving into this diagram.
Thanks Mike for taking the time to help me out, I appreciate it alot! :yourock:
I'll let you know how it turns out.
