Wiring DPDT 3-way mini toggle

Hi, I'm new here, but have been piddling with guitar electronics for a while. I've got a question about DPDT 3-way toggles. I'm putting a pair in a hollowbody with P-Rails and I was wondering if it matters which way is up. There are six lugs on the back, and the wiring diagram shows using the lugs on the left, I just want to make sure before I solder it all up, that I'm using the correct set of lugs. Since it's a hollowbody with no cavity access (I'm doing everything with strings running between the electronics holes and the f-holes!), I'd really like to do this once since it's not that easy to get stuff in and out of it!

OK, so a 3-way pickup selector like that on on Les Paul has a definite input and output. So this doesn't hold true with a DPDT mini toggle? Whichever side I hook the wires to to access the different pickup settings for the P-Rails, the up position is relative to the side I hook it up to?
