Wiring for LP and Bill Lawrences....

Hey guys loooong time since I posted HI! Well I thought I would come to the best on the net for this. I got my Lawrences (Bill and Becky) and I manage to have wired them wrong. In a nut shell I have seemed to have wired the pups correctly though my tone knobs don't seem to appear to do anything. So I bought this.......

Okay, I bought some cheap chinese pots and put them in a Les paul was that a first lesson to be learned?

Now being a wiring "IDIOT" even though it's not the first Pick up I have wired can someone point me in the right direction for wiring these?

I'll be dropping this whole plate in can someone give me a step by step on this installation. The bill Lawrence PUP diagram is different from the norm.

I honestly don't know where to solder anything to the center of the control plate, or output jack. Wiring for the 3 way switch is a bit confusing is there someone that can help? Thanks.!

Re: Wiring for LP and Bill Lawrences....

With a Les Paul, its easiest to think of both pups and controls as "modules". Wire them up individually:

Then just "connect the dots":

Edit: Don't forget to translate to BL colors. pickup color codes

Thanks for the reply! I have a few odd questions....

From the toggle switch Red and white are the Rhythm/Treble? They are soldered to the middle terminals on each respective pot?

There is also a Green, black, and yellow wire from the switch as well. Now im lost and just guessing. I have this whole drop in plate, do I solder the green and black to the center of this plate? Currently I have the yellow wire grounded to a tone pot.

Here is the Lawrence pickup config.

Seems to me im just confused on the Yellow, green, and black from the switch now. HELP! Thanks all.

Re: Wiring for LP and Bill Lawrences....

I soldered all three Yellow, green, and black from the switch to the middle of the control plate. Seems to have worked. One tone control doesn't seem to work but the other one does. Other wise.....Im wondering if I have a master tone now. I'll have to check not much time yesterday of course. They sent me the wrong control cavity plate too! Good thing I looked at the numbers on the pot. They are 300K vol 250 tones. Looks suspiciously like my studio control plate. Oh well they are gonna refund me. Maybe I should go with a 1 meg pot for the XL and a 500 or the L anyhow.

Longwinded sorry!

Re: Wiring for LP and Bill Lawrences....

The yellow, green and black from the switch will be neck hot, bridge hot and output to the jack. Trouble is, there's no way to know which is which. There's no standard colors for that. You just need to trace them back to the switch and see what goes to what.

Related to my diagram, those three wires will be the two "pluses" and the wire that goes to the output jack.
