Wiring gurus: Tone without volume?

I was sitting in class today, and suddenly I was struck by an (admittedly random :laugh2: ) idea:

Is it possible to have a tone control without a volume control wired up?

I've never seen it done before, and I'm not sure what (if any) practical purpose it would serve, so I'm basically posing this question as a curious hypothetical.

It's possible, someone was just asking about the same thing on another thread. I don't think it's the smartest idea, unless you have a separate kill switch and you always play on 10. But it's possible.
