Wiring Help! SD 4-Conductor in a SE Custom 24

Hi all,

New to the forum and new to doing work myself, but I'll be damned if I don't try to learn how to take care of my own instrument. I'm decent with a soldering iron, so why not replace my own pickups?

The issue is, I can't seem to find any wiring diagrams for putting in my 4-conductor SD APIIs into my PRS SE, which has a 3 way switch and a push-pull tone pot.

It would seem that this is close (from the SD website), but we all know the SE 3-way blade looks nothing like this: http://www.seymourduncan.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/2H_3B_1V_1TppSPL.jpg

Plus the original PRS wiring had a few connections on the blade that don't seem to match up with what I'm seeing in the SD diagram.

I know I should be able to do this on my own, but I have failed. There's no sound coming out. I'm considering stripping everything away and starting from scratch.

Please help save me from having it taken in and charged a buttload for something that I should be able to handle myself.

Thanks!

What type of three-way lever/blade selector switch does the PRS SE have? (I'm guessing a generic SE Asian type with eight contacts in a line.)

The translation between the terminal layouts of Asian and American switches looks like this.

1234 5678

5678
1234

There are two ways to complete the connections. It is possible that PRS used one option whilst the SD schematic illustrates the other.

YES! That's totally it. Didn't know there was a difference. It was driving me mad.

The SE is all lined up. Must be the Asian kind.

And yes, the SD schematic shows the American kind.

I'm guessing it starts at 1 at the top (toward the back of the guitar?) So the American is wired like:

Input/butt of guitar

1
. 5
2
. 6
3
. 7
4
. 8

Volume
Neck/etc?
