Wiring help!!

So I have a 1 SD Invader pickup that I'm trying to wire with 1 volume pot and a 3 way Gibson style switch with the neck position being a kill switch and the middle and bridge position being the humbucker.

I essentially thought that I can wire it up as if it was a 2 humbucker 1 volume 3 way switch but obviously leave out the neck humbucker so that position would be silent. After wiring it up, I can still hear the guitar in the neck position, however, very very faint. The volume works fine. Why am I hearing the guitar in the neck position when I don't have anything wired to that terminal on the 3 way switch.

Here's what I used, minus the neck humbucker which is supposed to wrk like a kill switch position.

Re: Wiring help!!

You could try wiring the "neck" terminal of the switch to ground. Your bridge pup would only work in the "bridge" position of the switch...the "middle" and "neck" position of the switch would then be a quiet "kill".

Re: Wiring help!!

Thanks!! It worked! Now the only thing is that in the bridge position the pickup sounds very thin and low in volume. I have the bare and green wire going to ground, black (hot) going to the switch and red and white taped off.

Re: Wiring help!!

Are the strands of the red and white conductors soldered together under the tape or merely twisted together as if for testing purposes?

Re: Wiring help!!

I'm such a noob. Thanks guys. I just took another look and I didn't solder the red and white together. I just taped them off. Fail. All is well now!
