Wiring help

Hi, I'm rewiring a Danelectro. The only way I get output is by bypassing the pots and running the pups into the switch and that into the jack. When it's wired into the pots as shown on the Semour Duncan diagram, I get no output. However, I do get alot of humming and when I touch something that's grounded, it fades mostly. The pots didn't read at all on an ohmmeter, and neither did the capacitors, but I have no reason to suspect that they are bad, nothing has happened to them. I'd appreciate any help you guys could give me. Thanks, Jordan

Re: Wiring help

You can't read a cap with an ohmeter. The pots, however, should. Make sure you select the proper range. Your pots should be either 250,000 or 500,000 ohms. Its a common mistake to set your meter for 250 or 500 ohms.

The outside two terminals of the pot should read the full value. (250k or 500k) From the center to either outside terminal should show a changing value as you turn the pot.

Re: Wiring help

Your not sure why it doesn't work though or why it stops humming why you touch a ground?
