i have a les paul copy guitar and today I bought a Bill Lawerence l-500 humbucker to replace the crap bridge humbucker. so the problem is the humbuckers in it are only single conductor pickups and the BL is a 4 conductor.

are there any wiring diagrams around for this setup? ive looked and i couldnt find one. or even a HXS diagram which i figured would be equivalent to it.

Re: wiring help

On the Lawrence, tie black and red together, and tape them off. (Insulate them.) Use green for ground and white for hot. If there's a bare wire, tie that with the green to ground.

Without knowing the phase of whats in there now, be aware that the middle switch position may be out-of-phase. If it is, you'll need to reverse the green and white wire on the Lawrence.

Re: wiring help

i bought the pickup used (it came off a washburn Nuno model) and the barewire and black are soldered together and the white, red and green are free, can I work with this or am i gonna have to take the bare wire and the black apart?

Re: wiring help

Basically, I'm going by this chart. Its possible that someone assumed black to be ground. I suppose it would work if you leave black and bare together, tie green and red together, and use white for the hot output.

Should work . . . maybe. ;)
