Wiring JB Jr. with two non RW-RP SSL-1s

I'm going to be installing a JB Jr. in the bridge of my Strat, with two non rw-rp SSL-1s in the neck and middle, but, I'm going to be wiring it with the Seymour-Duncan Auto-Split method, so that the JB does not overpower the SSL-1 in position 2 (bridge and middle).

However, this leads me to believe that there will be phasing issues or humming, I think? (I'm extremely, extremely new to guitar mods and wiring, so go easy :jester: ). I've read that to retain the humbucking whilst auto-splitting, I can change the order of the wires to use the 'south' coil? As seen on the pdf for this wiring method, https://www.seymourduncan.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/1SCH_2S_5W_1V_2T_AS.pdf , the black is the hot, and the green goes to earth.

But, because I do not have the RW-RP version of SSL-1 in the middle, can I wire the green hot, black to ground, and retain humbucking in said position (bridge and middle)?

Apologies in advance if I've worded something wrong etc- I'd be glad to elaborate!

Non-RWRP on an SSL-1 will be hum-canceling when splitting the JB Jr. the normal way of connecting red/white to ground like the green wire. The black wire of the JB Jr. is the hot wire.

Thanks! So I do I just follow the diagram exactly as-is then? With both the red and white soldered together on to the switch too?

Yep. White from the SSL-1s to the switch. Black from SSL-1s to ground.

Excuse the use of paint haha, but I think I've illustrated my theory well. So, following my diagram, what you're saying is totally correct. I'm using the black cable of my JB Jr. as the hot to use the northern coil, in order to counteract the polarity of the non RW-RP single coil in the middle, right?

So (out of my curiosity), with that in mind, theoretically, if I had an RW-RP middle coil, I'd need to use the southern coil (green wire as hot) on my JB Jr. to cancel the hum in the notch position?

Green wire as hot will put your pickup out of phase.

If you want to south coil active when splitting you can either 1) connect the red/white to the black (hot) wire, or 2) connect the red to hot, white to ground and pull the black/green pair down to ground.

...and yes, you need to use a south coil to cancel hum with an RWRP middle. I had to learn this the hard way. Luckily I had a full-sized humbucker and was able to flip the magnet. You would think a single by Duncan sold as a hum-canceling middle would work with the standard split mode of a Duncan humbucker. Not the case. :-/
