Wiring Mod Question

I know it is possible to turn a 500k pot into a 250k by using the right value resistor wired between the two outer lugs of the pot. My question is would it be possible to use this mod with a DPDT switch to switch between the two values? For this to be ideal I would like to use a 500k push pull pot to split a humbucker but also change the value of the pot. I think it would be a cool and useful mod to try but I'm not exactly sure if it's possible or how it would be done.

Thanks! That helps out a lot. If I were to add a standard treble bleed mod to that following this diagram, would it cause any issues? Also you out a 470k resistor in there but I don't have any. I do have two 1meg resistors that I could wire in parallel to equal around 500k. Would that 30k difference matter much?
