Wiring mod to Classic Player 50s Strat - please help!

Hi guys,

The classic player 50s strat comes as stock with a Super Switch, and is wired as follows:

1) bridge
2) bridge and middle in parallel
3) middle
4) bridge and neck in parallel
5) neck

Please note how position 4 differs to normal strat wiring. Tone 1 governs neck and middle, and tone 2 is dedicated to the bridge pickup.

I'm happy with all that, but I want to be able to get the pseudo humbucking bridge/middle in series and middle/neck in series tones too.

I was thinking maybe the best way of keeping the 5 existing tones whilst adding these 2 news ones would be to fit a push/pull pot to switch the middle pickup on in series with the others, so I can achieve the 2 extra totnes with the 5 way switch at positions 1 and 5.

Can this be done? If so, does anyone know where I might find a wiring diagram?

Just wanted to clarify this, as I feel I may have over-complecated my wording on the original post.

I want to fit a push/pull pot to turn the middle pickup on or off regardless of the 5 way selector - but on this switch, I want the middle pickup to be connected in series.

Anyone? I’l be very grateful if someone can help!

I'm bumping this in the hope someone can help me out pleeeeeeeease!

Can anyone tell me if there is a way I can get bridge/middle and also middle/neck IN SERIES selections from this strat? If the way I mentioned in my first post isn't do-able, can anyone suggest me a way that it can be done?

A little insentive (it's all I have that I can spare).... if anyone can give me the information I need, I have a Kent Armstrong Hotrails for Tele bridge pickup that I'll happily post to you free of charge!

Oooooh, I also have a Gordon Smith bridge humbucker going spare too...take your pick.

For the neck or bridge in series with the neck, you could get an S1 setup. A much easier method, though, is to wire the neck and bridge to a Tele switch; then take the output through a DPDT switch that has the middle pup in series, or straight-through:

Code:
        *    --- plain wire ---    *
In ---- * * ---- Out
        * black Middle Pup white *

I hope this diagram makes sense... Anyway, this gives you six sounds -- neck, bridge, both; with or without the middle pup in series -- but ISTR that the S1 system gives you more.

Thatnk you for the reply! That's half way to where I want to be, but I don't want to lose the parallel bridge/middle combo. In fact I don't really want to lose any of the tones, I just want the extras.

I know I'm asking a lot, but surely it can be done somehow???

Interesting about the S1 system though - I have seen that during my seemingly endless searches, but it seems from what I have seen to be for either an HSS or HH configuration?
