Wiring Mod to STC3M4

Hi,

I bought a STC3M4 preamp for Music Man Bass a few weeks ago, and coupled it with a SD MM pickup. I don't like the amount of treble it puts out, so I would like to know if there's any mod that I could do to cut the treble back a bit. Thanks.

Luke

welcome to the forum!

cant you just dial back the treble control? thats part of the cool part of active electronics, being able to shape your sound.

i believe that you could lower the value of the volume control, that should shave off some high end but im not sure if it will effect the performance of the active circutry

Re: Wiring Mod to STC3M4

The problem is, I can't really dial any treble off. I can turn the treble back all they way, but it won't darken the sound at all. I just get slightly less high end.

Re: Wiring Mod to STC3M4

so when you roll the treble control down you dont loose much treble?

what happens when you roll down the mid control? does it get darker? could be a frequiency thing. you can probably put a cap on the output to dump some high end

is the pup wired in parallel?

Re: Wiring Mod to STC3M4

Yeah, my pickup is wired in parallel. The mid control scoops the mids pretty good, but the tone doesn't get darker. That means the mids are fine. Hopefully, someone here can give me some ideas.
