wiring problem # ???

well i wired up my new guitar ( 2 hum 1 vol 1 tone 3 way toggle ) i get sound from the strings...there is no hum / buzz. but it sounds like my volume knob is already rolled down to around 3-4 ( getting no distortion from my amp ) and thats when its on 10, if i go past 7-8 it just cuts off all the way. think i messed up the potentiometer ?

Re: wiring problem # ???

Thats definitely a possibility. A quick check is to solder a little jumper across the two lugs that aren't ground. If the volume seems normal, then I'd replace the pot. The volume control won't work during this test, but it helps determine if thats the problem.

cool thanks ill try that. the sound is a bit thin too ? however im used to a tom/stp style bridge and not a floating floyd. but ive played them before w/o this problem. anyway ill give it a shot

after poking around about w/ the guitar on ( strings set to motion ) i pushed the wires around a little and now the volume seems fine. i've never used copper shielding tape inside of a guitar before ( did this time ) maybe i just have some loose wires somewhere. ill check around the only ones i can see lose or that may have a iffy connection are the green and bare ( dimarzio pickups ) which go to the ground.
