Wiring Q: Three way series wiring

Howdy wizards!

I've been looking for a THREE way tele wiring schematic with both pickups in series in the middle position. It seems EVERY tele schematic with series wiring is a 4-way solution with neck, both parallell, both series, bride. Has anyone got a THREE way schematic with both pickups in series in the middle position – please paste it below.

Kind regards!

  • Neck hot direct to the volume pot
  • Neck ground to R-COM
  • Bridge hot to L-COM
  • Bridge ground direct to ground
  • L-1 to volume pot
  • L-2 to R-2 so in P2 the bridge hot connects to the neck ground
  • R-3 to ground
  • No connections on L-3 or R-1.
In P1 (bridge only):
  • Bridge hot >> L-COM >> L-1 >> volume pot
  • Bridge ground permanently grounded
  • Neck hot permanently connected to volume pot
  • Neck ground >> R-COM >> R-1 >> nowhere
  • Neck hot permanently connected to volume pot but neck ground (to R-COM) is not connected in P1 so the neck pickup is dead
In P2 ( bridge and neck in series):
  • Ground >> Bridge ground >> Bridge pickup >> Bridge hot >> L-COM >> L-2 >> R-2 >> R-COM >> Neck ground >> neck pickup >> Neck hot >> volume pot
In P3 (neck only):
  • Bridge hot >> L-COM >> L-3 >> nowhere
  • Bridge ground permanently grounded
  • Neck hot permanently connected to volume pot
  • Neck ground >> R-COM >> R3 >> ground
  • Bridge pickup is dead because the bridge hot (to L-COM) is not connected to anything on L-3
I think....

You’re probably absolutely right. But I’m not on that level. L-COM, R-COM? I know how to solder but I don’t get the lingo. Can you explain it in more regular terms? Sorry I’m no wizard myself.

The switch has two banks of contacts.

One is on the left, L, and the other on the right, R if the non-metallic plate supporting them. They can also be called A and B. It doesn't really matter.

L-COM and R-COM refer to the common contacts on the left and right respectively. They are the contacts which have the extended parts that are always in contact with one or another of the other contacts. Just so you know,, the commons are at opposite ends of their respective rows of contacts.

L-1, L-2, L-3 refer to the contacts that are connected to L-COM in positions 1, 2 and 3 respectively. Similar for R-1, R-2, R-3 and R-COM.

By convention P1 is bridge only, P2 is bridge and neck, P3 is neck only.

Thank you so much. Now (even I) get it.
