wiring question

Been thinking about this for a 1 humbucker(1 vol-1tone) guitar to simulate a neck pup.

-Roll tone down to desired level of smoothness.

-Read tone pot with a multimeter (not sure what lugs the probes would go on, hot and ground?)

-use a resistor on a dpdt to simulate the reading from the multimeter.

Figure you'd be able to switch between the 2 sounds alot faster than rolling down the tone knob to the sweet spot each time you need a smooth sound.

Is this possible?

Re: wiring question

Sure it's possible.

I'd probably just use a trim pot in place of the tone pot instead of a fixed resistor.

Re: wiring question

yes, it's possible. why do you think an Esquire has a switch?

one spot for no tone control, one with the tone pot active and one for a fixed resistance to simulate a neck pickup.
