Wiring Question

darnright

RepententRodentologist
I have noticed, especially on LP style guitars, that some are wired with the cap running between middle lug and ground on tone pot. I have also seen them run between tone pot and volume pot. What difference does this make and is one "better" than the other?
Thanks, Dave

Re: Wiring Question

No difference. A tone control is a cap and variable resistor wired in series in an AC circuit. It's just whatever's convenient. Now, there is one exception to that. If the connection to the volume pot is switched between the "input" lug or wiper, that's what's called the 50's wiring. That does make a slight difference.
