I'm planning on installing a Kent Armstrong Convertible P90 and a Pearly Gates bridge in a project. The guitar has 1 volume and 1 tone knob with a 3-way switch. I'd like to split the humbucker with a coil tap pot, but, would also like to have separate volume control like a balance/blend pot. Does anyone have any idea if and how this might be accomplished? Or would like to recommend something else?

You could also use the balance/blend pot in place of the 3-way switch. You can't switch pickups as fast, but you'd be able to adjust the blend to taste.
