Re: woo! Kerry King EQ is out

Why is the lowest band at 31.25 hz? Guitars don't go that low... AFAIK, that's around the frequency of a low B on a 5 string bass.

Re: woo! Kerry King EQ is out

I played through the MXR M-108 10 Band ($120) and the MXR KFK-1 10-Band ($140) and the only difference I notice was the dual outputs. Harldy worth my $20, I opted for the M-108. Coincidentally, when searching for a distortion pedal, I checked out Dime's Distortion ($120) and the Double Shot ($130). The bottom channel on the Double Shot IS the Dime Distortion. For $10 more you get two cahnnels and the top one is a perfect classic sound. Watch out for Artist models, the same company usuallly offers similar (if not EXACT) models without the hype or moeny involved. Kerry and Dime kick gluteus maximus, but these IMHO are marketing techniques by the companies. I will spend top dollar for quality gear, but I am nobody's fool!

Re: woo! Kerry King EQ is out

Tom is right about that! When adjusting the eq, you really dont hear any bass roll-off until the 31.2 hits 25% and below. However, when performing double stops that roll-off is evident. I leave that one at %50 just fot the love of it!! I cant tell the difference from 50-100 percent because that is below the freq response of the guitar, and I am a firm believer in less-is-more when eq'ing. It's better to cut treb and mid than to keep maxing out faders. Once the desired tone is acquired, increase the output of the eq to match other sources.

is this the case with Morley?

They have a volume pedal that retails at £86 and the Little Alligator at £99

Might be useful for down-tuned guitars :dunno:

Well my GE-7 does me fine. What's the Zakk Wylde OD pedal like? Is it basically an SD-1 with new clothes?

I would definitely say... Yes!! :smack:

While shopping for my trusty volume pedal, I only saw the non-Vai model online. The Lil Gator was actually available in the store for $70 or I could wait 5 business days and get the Pro-V for $65. The endorsement was nearly enough to turn me away from the deal, but when I plugged in and gave it a run, I was sold. Not to mention, $5 was worth not having to wait for delivery. Now the Bad Horsie II was a different story. I purchased THAT model because I have concerts of Vai using this pedal (probably modded) in concert getting awesome wah sounds. With the mid-scoop switch, I can change the tones on the fly, so its like having two separate wah pedals. I am still weary of Artist models, though. Buyers beware.... :22:

I use a GE-7 and they're great. There's no real need for those extra bands, and as was already stated, at least one of them isn't even any good for guitar work.

The Wylde OD is basically an SD-1 with a flatter EQ curve. Also, since it's true bypassed it has no buffer.
