Woods with pup. What works?

Im planing to make a warmoth lp with a mahogany body and Im undecided on the neck woods. I want to use an ebony fretboard. Should I stick with the tried and true mahogany neck or I was thinking of going with a Pau Ferro neck. Pau is suposed to be between maple and mahogany in terms of brightness, its got a well ballenced tone, its very stable and its stiffer than mahogany. I'll be using APH-1 alcino 2 pro humuckers and I am going for a guitar that can play rythem and lead well. I play new rock/classic rock. I need some input on woods and any suggestions.

neck woods are really no biggie when it comes to tone, as many say, when les pauls had maple necks people couldnt tell the differece in tone between those and the mahogany necks. And if pau ferro is closer to mahogany in tone, it will work even better! and you dont need to finish it right?

No finish needed. Thats another reason I wanted to use it. I like raw necks. Less finish, more vibration = more tone. The ebony fretboard should'nt make the neck too bright right?
(I would'nt mind if the lp was slightly brighter than normal lp's. To me sometimes they can be too deep sounding.)
