Worth Upgrading?

I have this 3-year old OLP Benji Madden Sig. that I really like...

(I don't have a picture, but it is the one with less writing on the headstock and has a sparkle-green paintjob.)

...however, its performance dissapoints me.:sigh:

Sooo, I was wandering if it would be worth replacing its pickup (only one) and possibly getting some new tuners...

...or just save up for the S.U.B. 1 guitar?

Yes, a new pickup would make a world of difference to the sound. The OLP guitars are great axes, and they greatly benefit from getting better electronics and hardware.

So i'd say go for it! :)

Re: Worth Upgrading?

Thanks.

What about the tuners?

I'm kinda tired of the G-string coming out of tune, so would new tuners eliminate that problem or is the guitar too cheap for that?

Re: Worth Upgrading?

Hi, and sorry for the late reply.

Well, the guitar certainly isn't "too cheap" for an upgrade. And, i seriously doubt that a guitar can be so cheap that it can't stay in tune regardless of tuners ;).

Get some new ones, i prefer Gotoh's.

And oh, if you need some more help\advice\bull**** talk from me, just send me a PM :)

Re: Worth Upgrading?

I would definitely try going getting a new nut recut for the guitar before you trying getting new tuners.

Depends on the actual cause... the best tuners in the world won´t alleviate issues causes by a bad nut or strings binding at the bridge....

Re: Worth Upgrading?

I put a new pickup and locking tuners on my OLP MM1, stays in tune, kicks like a mother, sounds INCREDIBLE! Never played your guitar but if you can get the money, I would go for the sub.

Re: Worth Upgrading?

Thank you guys so much for the advice!

'preciate it.

But I am have a problem with the tuners.

The headstock (as you know on OLP's) is different from most guitars.

The tuners are 4+2, and most dealers do not have those.
