Would a 49.2mm cover fit a 50mm pickup?

I'm placing a Stewmac order and I need a cover for my 50mm Aldrich and they don't have that size... Closest is 49.2, pretty damn close.

Depends on the tolerances.

Also try calling Mojotone. People there are knowledgeable about their stuff and will find out if they don't know.

Like darth said, but most cases no. Look at allparts or philadelphialuthiers.

I've never got the two to play ball without drilling.

You can easily make it fit.

Depending on the tolerances and exact spacing of the cover and pup, you may be able to just take the screws all the way out, put the cover on, then put the screws back in. If you look close, you will see that the holes don't perfectly line up with the screws, but the screw heads hide most of the misalignment and it will work just fine. This may not work, however, but you can just drill out all the holes in the cover a tiny bit, or file the outside edges of the outer holes a tiny bit with a small rat-tail file to make it work.

IME, no. I covered a Suhr SSV. I tried a Gibson cover (49.2 mm), and it didn't fit. I had to order from Philadelphia Luthier Tools eventually.
