would dimarzio super distortions on both positions neck and bridge sound good on my les paul ? would they sound better than duncan designed????
i want my les paul to kick ass , is the super distortion good at the neck ? does anybody has it there????????

Didn't you already ask this somewhere?

Anyways....a Super Distortion in the bridge would sound great and much better than Duncan Designed garbage IMO. However, I would not use it in the neck...would be too boomy and muddy. Go with either a Dimarzio PAF or PAF Pro for a little less output and more clarity in that position.

I don't know, but I tried it and it sounded awful IMO. Very muddy and undefined with too much output.

Neck pickups usually have less output and more treble to compensate for the difference in position between itself and the bridge.

This is why Seymour Duncan has bridge and neck pickups. DImarzio doesn't do this so you just choose a pickup better suited for that position.

You would most likely want something with a bit less output and somewhat more presence or treble.....maybe with the bass rolled back a touch too.

none of the pups being talked about are active

ace did have three super distortions but he never used anything but the bridge pup. a super distortion is a good bridge pup but not so great a neck pup

For a good hard rock sound in a LP, I like the Custom at the bridge with either a PG, 59, or APH at the neck. The Super Distortion is nice, but the Custom can cover a lot more sonic territory than the Dimarzio.
