If you went to a club and saw a band that played a lot of blues, some traditional and some inspired by (Cream, Yardbirds, ZZ Top, etc.) and the guitar player had a black thin body Ibanez (an S470 I think) with a Floyd, yet played the hell out of it, would that seem a little odd to anyone. Just that that guitar was primarily made for shredders, and songs like "Crossroads" and "Tush" were being played on it. Stranger yet, I asked him what pup's he used, and they were a Fred and a Paf pro, the classic Satriani combo. What does everyone think.

If it sounded good, I wouldn't care.
I prefer shred style guitars (the feel anyway) for any type of music... just easier to play.
I don't think anyone would be too shocked by someone using a "modern" guitar to play classic music. (I might be biased- I like the Ibanez look, some very much don't

I'm getting extremely bored with the classic strat look... I'd like to get a new shape soon, that's not Ibanez lol.

Anyway about that guitar player, I think that's cool. I would love to get classic tones from a modern axe.

I knew an old man that used to play in a blues band in a small town outside of Atlanta...he played a Jackson with the Jack of Spades painted on it through a KMD SS Bass amp and used a real crappy DOD american metal distortion box...he had a killer sound with a shread guitar into a SS bass via a craooy distortion pedal, but he didn't care...it's not about what you have it's aobut what you do with it!

On the flip side, I play heavy rock with my Epi Sheraton through a Bassman head and sometimes an old Vox 2x12 cab.

If it sounds good, I have no problem using it. :burnout:
