Would this work you guys?

Ok last week I bought a jackson SLSMG (WOOHOO ;D) and now I'm thinking of pic-up replacement. The sounds Im after is something that can handle both heavy metal distortion and clean sound. The distortion sound is the most important one, but I also want to be able to have a CLEAN sound you know, that dosnt distort by itself when I turn the volume up. Now, how would a Dimebucker(b) and a Full shred(n) work in a neck and string-through mahogny body with ebony fretboard? I really don't know much about what properties these woods have so any help would be great.

Re: Would this work you guys?

Personally I think you'r be better off with a Distortion and a Full Shred. But that's just me. Congrats on the new axe.

Re: Would this work you guys?

Thanks! =)
Any specific reason? I've heard lots of good stuff about the dimebucker lately, that it cleans up very nice while still beeing pretty hot and all that.

Re: Would this work you guys?

In all honesty, I've never heard the Dimebucker so I can't comment on it one way or the other. However, the Duncan Distortion is by far my absolute favorite pickup. It can do it all. It is articulate under high gain with a tight bottom end. It has a good amount of mids and just enough treble without being ice-picky. It cleans up very well, also, especially when split. I'v egot 5 of them with another on the way. It has never disappointed me.

Re: Would this work you guys?

Allright lol now it's hard to pick =). The distortion looks nicer though. :) What do you mean by 'split'?

Re: Would this work you guys?

Split just means using one coil of the humbucker to achieve a true single coil effect. The SLSMG has a three way blade switch so you'd have to install coil tap switches or a 5 way blade switch (my suggestion as this wouldn't require any extra routing of the guitar) and wire it up for splitting the neck and bridge pickups.

Re: Would this work you guys?

OK cool I didnt know you could do that stuff, might be a future project for me when I get time. Unless it's too complicated... But I can always practise on my old epiphone ;D

Re: Would this work you guys?

I second the DD/FS set, but if you want a bit more mellow sound out of the neck, go with a Jazz. the DD is the best metal pickup IMO, and I have it in a mohogany/string thru guitar.

Re: Would this work you guys?

Loud, punchy, mid & bass heavy, lots of people find it muddy, but I've loved it in every guitar it's been in. The one that really surprised me was how killer it sounded in an Epi LP Standard. If you want brutality, check it out.

Re: Would this work you guys?

Sounds great, how clear is it? I mean, will you hear every tone clearly or will it be more of a thick wall? lol do you understand what I mean? And how is it for cleans?

Re: Would this work you guys?

Lol ninja-bumping don't work on these forums... Here's a honest one then! =)

Re: Would this work you guys?

I have an SLSMG also, but with the black flametop(which you cant get anymore). Right now i have a JB/Full Shred in mine. I would suggest the JB or the distortion for the bridge. I love my JB... the bottom can get just a little loose sometimes with heavy distortion and bass, but it comes out very thick, which is what i like.

Re: Would this work you guys?

Seems like a lot of people like the distortion =). I like the soundclips for that one the best too so that probably what I'll get then.
