sell your carvin dc 127c to fund wood working machines to do more custom builds?

I am tired of going to the wood working guild to use their bandsaw and thicknesser, It's filled with retired old men who know everything but nothing at the same time. Some are helpful but its major pain in the ass explaining what i need to do.

So i had a guy wanting to come look at the guitar. I said i wont take any less than $800 and he still wanted to come look. But i got cold feet and called it off now, but now i am having second thoughts.

I guess my problem is i know the machines will be worthless long before the guitar will :2: Plus its a ****ing carvin dc :oo

P.s i dont play the carvin much.

Re: Would you....

Which will bring you more joy? Are they equal in price?

I like knowing i have the carvin but it does need some work and i dont ever play it. If i go second hand i might be able to get both the machines for the sale price.

Re: Would you....

Its just a thing, man. You can make more things with the woodworking stuff. Granted, im just up the coast from Carvin and you're on the other side of the world. ..but still. Its just a thing.

Re: Would you....

Personally, if I had the space for even a true bench, I'd go that route. Building can bring as much pleasure as playing.

Yeah thats a good point. i do get a ''semi'' when i build haha. My urrent workspace is a 7x11m shed but i am in the process of fitting it our so my family can have more space. After that i have to convert another shed/carport into a wood working area. Oh the humanity.

I just sent the guy an email asking if he still wants to come look. I only have 17 other guitars so its not like i wont have something to play.

Haha. My lawn mower shed doubles as my rattle can spray booth and I have a table at work for soldering type stuff. I'd love to work from scratch but for now just bolting on parts. And I love it!

awesome man, its a great hobby thats for sure. And doing a good paint job can be as hard as alot of the build process haha/. I just purchased a heap of templates so i can start making strat style 22 fret replicas. weeeeeee

In recent news i have arranged for this guy to come look over the guitar on the weekend. I feel funny about it already haha.

Would you....

Sounds promising. Good luck mate. The green black and white in my avatar (FrankenWeezil) was my first guitar paint, but I had done two motorcycles prior. Light coats and proper sanding are key.

I look forward to seeing your builds.

Re: Would you....

Ok, how about a new concept : *renting a guitar*, with the seller/buyer retaining the right to ask for the guitar/money back, anytime within a defined time period?

Re: Would you....

I assume that isn't your only guitar. So you create new abilities without really giving up anything skill related. If you have the space for a woodworking shop you are in a nice position.

The resell value on tools is brutal, though, especially on hard to ship bigger machinery.

I live in the country man i doubt anyone will be renting it off me.

I only have about 17 others haha.

Re: Would you....

Any Tom, Dick or Harry can go to the store and buy a guitfiddle off the wall. If you want to finance BUILDING guitars, I say do it. You'll get the satisfaction of handcrafting a guitar in your own space with your own tools and not have to worry about Ol' Ebenezer trying to understand the "young whippersnapper" with the guitar fetish...
