I've owned 2 Gibson doublenecks in the last 20 years and I swore I'd never own another one but that thing is hot!!!!!

And in his office, the Prophet slows starts sobbing ... to the bewilderment of his coworkers until someone passes and says "Oh he's just seen another awesome thing he can't afford".

My only question is why go with Witchhats ... they were the ugliest knob in Gibson's arsenal. It's like they ran out of normal knobs in the factory that day.

Blue is not the color for every one. Besides the high price tag, the vast majority of players are not thrilled about the weight and bulkiness, and the actual benefit of playing one. It saves you several seconds on stage (versus changing guitars). I suspect the annual convention of double-neck guitar owners could be held in a small motel room, with lots of space left for darts and dwarf-tossing (a 'sport' that was banned in Florida).

Not to mention the additional cost of a chiropractor.

Pretty much why I got rid of mine! It's the most awkward, impractical beast of a guitar. Tuning was a nightmare, it's super neck heavy but the tone was huge! As a gigging musician I couldn't find more than a few songs on our setlist to use it on. I couldn't justify the hassle.....

So why did I own 2? The first one I searched high and low for and finally bought, then sold......The second was too good of a deal to pass up and I sold it for a hefty profit not long after........

Ah man I'll have to find a way to stop by and check that out this week. The new store is open so that's as good an excuse as any.

High price, neck dive, tuning, chiropractors... pfft!

That thing's gorgeous and I want one. Looks like it was co-designed by Jimmy Page and Elliot Easton.

I love it, but it's not the weight that bothers me with those (I owned one as well), but it's the fret access. Horrible. The BC Rich I have now has the best fret access of any doubleneck I've ever owned, and I moved the darn peg for the strap from the upper horn to the back of the body at the base of the 12 neck, and the guitar sits great now. Before, it was just so neck heavy, and I couldn't use it for more than a song or two. Now I can play it all night long.

That is a gorgeous guitar and the color is sweet. But like TGWIF said, not nearly five k sweet.

Still, when you think of the work involved in building a doubleneck, all the hardware, electronic, fretwork, etc. $4200 doesn't really sound that insane. Gotta be more complicated a build than two 2K guitars. We need a new thread, "Crusty builds a doubleneck".

True, it's two guitars, double everything, and ain't gonna be cheap.
