i played a guitar that had this equipped in it, it was the tom delonge signature gibson(yeah i know, ass ugly guitar but soudned great!!!)

i played teh guitar through a bad cat hot cat 30 watt combo, when i hit the first chord. i instantly knew how much it kicked ass!!!

the thing had such a thick, driving tone!! still had great clarity though. the tone i could say it sounded like was "in teh still of teh night" by whitesnake.

harmonics were great, very balanced, very thick tone. damn i want one!!

so, no the plan is this..

go buy a dirty fingers humbucker, install it on my san dimas charvel and put teh Custom in teh charvel into my les paul.

it sounded amazing!!

i doubt your charvel guitar with dirty fingers will sound the same as the tom delonge sig. the gibson tom delonge signature is a semi-hollowbody guitar.

I'm thinking it was the Bad Cat Hot Cat you were hearing...the only way to know would be to compare similiar guitars with both pickups on it. Imagine what Duncans would sound like through that mother!

but it sounded very good though the peavey 5150 too and soldano slo-100 too!!

damn i want one but it's expensive!

i've playued the bad cat a bunch of times before and it sounded incredible on every guitar i played it on. only one that didn't sounded as good was the petrucci MM model, but i was still bad at tweaking amps though

You should play the Tom Delonge Gibby through the amp you play through at home so it gives you a more accurate idea of what it may sound like. Your also of course gonna have to consider the fact that your playing through a Gibby Hollowbody rather than your Charvel. Its not just the pickup that matters. Its a combination of the pickup and your amp. :dance:

i can imagine it'd sound better through my charvel simpley because it's not made of laminate wood and is ****ing handmade! :headbang:

but honestly, i'll probably try it out soon.

Come to think of it wasn't there a Rolling Stones album called "Sticky Fingers". Pretty gross if you think it has something to do with Mick Jagger or Keith Richards.

dude, about half of that tone came from the amps... the soldano is a BEAST!

about the petruci MM, i played it the other day and really wasnt impressed by it's feel, neck or the pups. not that it sounded bad, far from it, but it's not made for me =P

yeah but i still wasn't good at tweaking amps at that point. so i'll try it again, probbaly through a mesa or somehting.

all the tone is in teh ifngers man

your so lucky you have all those amps to try out at your local store, I have a georges music that has NO tube marshalls and a couple of tube fenders and a butch of other SS brands...the best amp they ever had in there was a dsl100...come to think of it that was the only tube marshall head or any tube head they have ever had. I told them they nedd to order some plexi reissues and some kind of freakin tube amps!!!
