Wrote an instrumental w/Mad Professor Golden Cello

I thought I'd take a different approach to the other demo clips of this pedal (which mostly showcase widdly leads), and try and use it to write and record every single part of an instrumental track... so this is how it turned out! If you haven't heard of it, the Golden Cello is a combined fuzz + delay - basically epic solo tone in a box!

Let me know what you think!

Re: Wrote an instrumental w/Mad Professor Golden Cello

That pedal does sound great. I tried it but don't remember it being too fuzzy. It kind of reminded me of a Keeley Fuzzhead. When I first tried it, I was thinking they probably made it to be like EJ in a box or something.

I like your instrumental very much. What a great idea to actually show what the pedal is capable of. Nice playing and phrasing. I think the ol' Professor will owe you some money for the increase in sales!

Thank you for your kind words! Haha well my website is still pretty new compared to the big boys like Guitar Noize, iheartguitar etc, so I guess I've gotta try and do something a little bit different! I'd love if it anyone who digs the clip and/or the website would do me the great favour of telling your musician friends about it - nothing like positive word of mouth to help things along :)

Haha, hopefully the Mad Professor guys will check it out as well - I've sent a link to them on Facebook, and am hoping they will share it amongst their followers.

Haha yeah I think that's why I like it... I'm really not a fuzz kinda guy, and the fuzzboxes that I've liked the most have usually been the ones that are very smooth and more like overdrive than fuzz.

The Golden Cello does have that characteristic "flub" in the low end though, which identifies it as a fuzz in my mind.

Re: Wrote an instrumental w/Mad Professor Golden Cello

I was just looking at this pedal the other day I think this could give me the Ideal lead tone that I always hear in my head very smooth almost liquid like but not muddy. Is the bottom end very loose with this pedal?

Re: Wrote an instrumental w/Mad Professor Golden Cello

I wouldn't say it's very loose - but like I mentioned in the review (go read it! :D) you can't really get a good palm mute out of it, as with many fuzz overdrives. That may or may not matter depending on your playing style - personally I do a lot of percussive/palm mute stuff when I'm alternate picking, so this is more of a pedal I'd pick to play more fluid stuff, which is why the instrumental came out the way it did, I suppose!

Re: Wrote an instrumental w/Mad Professor Golden Cello

I would only use this pedal for a lead tone so naw I don't need a heavy chug.

Re: Wrote an instrumental w/Mad Professor Golden Cello

What a great idea to combine fuzz and delay. Very nice demo. Pitch is a touch wonky on the main guitar, tho ...

Re: Wrote an instrumental w/Mad Professor Golden Cello

Haha, I will certainly concede that some of the bends at the beginning were slightly off - but it can't be the whole main guitar sound - the whole piece was recorded with the same guitar in the same session.

Sure, I understand. It isn't all the notes, but it is pitchy throughout the whole piece. Being a demo site I would imagine you wouldn't want anything down-leveling the review? Maybe it matters not to you. Cheers.

Re: Wrote an instrumental w/Mad Professor Golden Cello

Oh I definitely agree... though obviously my ears are not as sensitive as yours! I hear some of it, but not throughout...

I'll see if I can find some time to re-do it! :) But most of my lead playing is off the cuff and improvised, I'm gonna have to figure out what I was playing!! Hahah.

Thank you for your honest feedback!
