I hear ya.

I have an 80's double creme JB and a double creme Custom 5 which I'd have a very hard time selling.

If you look under Seth Lover cover you see zebra coils, which come sometimes with only a single color.

They have actually officially asked us to stop making references to shop floor customs and custom shop covered pickups with double creme bobbins, if I recall correctly.

I think it's silly, and it may be silly, but to SD & Co, it could mean a court case. That's so weird to me.

I would just order one in that way that we are not supposed to talk about. All of my Duncans except my PATB and single coils are of the variety we are not supposed to talk about.
