Hello,

Starting to build up my text/luthier toold for when I start a guitar making and repair course next year..

Looking at stewmac it's gonna cost me a bomb "importing" tools over simply because of the import tax. If anyone has spare or unwanted stewmac/similar tools please PM me!

First off I'm looking for setup gauges and fret levelling/crowning tools.

Thanks

Check out as many "build your own guitar" books as you can.
Lots of luthiers make their own tools or repurpose conventional wood working tools.

Fret leveling can be done with something like this.

Crowning is probably easier if done with a crowning tool like Stew Mac sells.
If you're serious about luthiery I'd invest in the diamond files.

Automotive "feeler gauges" can be used instead of the string action gauge.

And you can make your own understring/radius gauges in CorelDraw or Illustrator, cut them out and laminate them.
Or you can use these.

Of course, eventually you'll find what works best for you.

I'd make friends with a skilled metal working/toolsmith, in the meantime. :)

Good luck.
