I actually did that at a guitar shop a while ago, except it was the black heart-shaped Daisy Rock so it looked more 'emo' than 'metal.'

Still, plugged into a Marshall half stack, "Raining Blood" still rocked.

Those guitars always go used for not much less than you can get one for new. Very popular. I found two boxed at a thrift store last year for 59.00 each. I gave one away to my friends neice, and kept one. Lucked out that time.

EMGs don't fit without moding the pickguard.
I put a white DiMarzio Super 3 in mine.
